About the Artist

Cara O'Connor Durnin is a self-taught fine artist from the south coast of Ireland.

Her art draws inspiration from the deep wells of literature, mythology, and folklore of the Irish countryside. She endeavours to illuminate these stories through the use of different classical artistic mediums, but reimagined for a modern audience, such as stained glass, and the newest project she is working on: woven tapestries.

The stained glass collection aims to weave that rich storytelling into enchanting visual designs. The use of stained glass-inspired transparent materials means each piece is both aesthetically captivating and functional, allowing natural light to filter through and cast vivid, colourful reflections that bring the magic of the stories to life.

Sonnet and Fable is a small one-woman business that has grown enormously over the years into an independent brand that can be found in many gift shops, museums, and, of course, bookshops throughout Ireland and across the world.
